What Is Waxing?

Waxing is a speedy and effective hair-removal procedure which uses a sticky substance, such as wax, to adhere to unwanted hair. It is then stripped off to remove the hair by pulling the hairs out of their follicles.

Am I an Ideal Candidate for Waxing?

If you want to get rid of unwanted hair in certain areas of your body, waxing is a great way to do that. Waxing can remove hair from numerous regions, including the back, legs, arms, armpits, chest, upper lip, and bikini area.

It takes several weeks for hair to grow back, so you can maintain the hairless appearance of your arms, underarms, legs, or other areas of the body for a longer period of time.

If you have sensitive skin, underwent chemical peel treatment recently, or have a sunburn, you are not recommended to undergo this hair-removal procedure.

Your Consultation

Prior to getting your hair-removal treatment, your aesthetician will evaluate your target area. She will assess your hair growth to see if it is at optimal length for removal. She will also examine the target area for any open wounds to avoid any serious complications.

What Is Waxing Like?

There are strip and stripless options for waxing. Depending on your preference, or which option is recommended by your aesthetician, one of these methods of hair removal will be chosen.

Strip waxing involves the use of cloth or paper strips over the applied wax. The strip is then quickly pulled against the direction of hair growth. This is done parallel to the skin and as quickly as possible.

Stripless waxing, also known as hard wax, makes use of wax pellets or beads, which are melted down. It is spread thickly on the target area and allowed to cool down. Once it hardens, it is removed easily without using strips.

Aftercare

You can assume your normal routine right after your waxing treatment with no recovery needed. You may experience some redness, but it should go away in a few hours. Cold compresses can help with the discomfort.

Loose-fitting clothing and natural fabrics are best to wear to avoid irritation. Also, it is best to keep away from hot baths, saunas, and steam treatments a few days after waxing.
